Thursday evenings at the Society are reserved for house debates. A motion is chosen and a paper on the motion is read to the audience, either by a guest speaker or a student of the college. After the presentation of the paper, the debate ensues.

(Nov 6/08) Capital Punishment and the Execution of Justice - A paper by Sinead Finegan, treasurer of the 324th session. Responses to be made by: Marc Klaas, of the KlaasKids child protection lobby group, and Richard Waghorne, the chief political correspondent of the Irish Daily Mail. Marie Combesque, of the French League of Human Rights, and Baroness Vivien Stern, of the International Centre for Prison Studies.
